Matheus Cunha is chomping at the bit to be fit in time for Saturday’s clash with Chelsea.
Manchester United welcome the Blues to Old Trafford this weekend in hopes of instantly bouncing back from their dismal Manchester derby defeat last Sunday.
Chelsea are unbeaten in the Premier League thus far, overseeing two wins and two draws. However, they sustained a midweek loss at the hands of Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in the sides’ European opener, so Enzo Maresca will be keen to get back to winning ways and extend their stellar start to the campaign.

One player who could well sway the game in United’s favour is Cunha, who suffered an injury setback prior to the international break, causing him to miss the trip across the city to the Etihad.
He pulled up in the first half against Burnley with what looked like a hamstring issue and, after receiving brief treatment from the physio staff, was unable to continue.
The summer signing is still awaiting his maiden goal contribution since swapping Wolverhampton Wanderers for the Red Devils, but Cunha has shown some promising signs that, once he’s perhaps settled more, he can replicate the form he displayed last season.
Cunha recorded a hugely impressive 17 goals and six assists in 33 top-flight appearances across 2024/2025, establishing himself as one of the division’s standout performers week after week.
Luckily for the United faithful, there is a chance he could make the matchday squad in matchweek five.
Journalist Ben Jacobs told The United Stand on Thursday: “Cunha has been working with a personal trainer, and he’s been telling people he’ll be ready for the Chelsea game. Let’s see if Ruben Amorim agrees.”
Fans can expect definitive clarification on the 26-year-old’s condition when Amorim addresses reporters in his pre-match press conference today.
