An insight into the response of those behind the scenes at Barcelona to the entrance of arch rivals Real Madrid into the race for Julián Alvarez has come to the fore online.

Real Madrid’s Alvarez pursuit of course dominated the headlines across all of Europe over the last 24 hours.

As much came after Los Blancos surprised the masses in releasing a statement, confirming that they had seen a mammoth €150 million bid for the Argentine rejected.

Atlético responded with a statement of their own, poking fun at Los Blancos, whilst reiterating their stance that Alvarez will be going nowhere over the months ahead.

So, where does this leave Barcelona, also eyeing the former Manchester City man’s signature this summer?

If ensuing word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then the Blaugrana’s plans have not been at all changed by recent ongoings in Spain’s capital.

As per a report from market insider Gianluigi Longari, amongst others:

‘These developments change nothing in Barcelona’s determination to reach a satisfactory agreement to bring Julián Álvarez to the Camp Nou. Real Madrid’s statement has been taken as a disruption tactic.’
