Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri is not expected to get a hostile reception at the Allianz Stadium this evening as the Italian tactician meets his former club, Juventus, in Serie A Round 6.
Milan coach Allegri returns to Turin to face Juventus as an opponent tonight, after spending eight seasons in charge of the Bianconeri.
His first five-year spell was beyond successful as the Bianconeri won five Serie A titles, four Coppa Italia and reached the Champions League Final twice between 2014 and 2019.
When he returned to the club in 2021, many things had changed; Juventus were no longer the dominant team they had been in the previous decade, and Allegri only won one Coppa Italia in three following years.

There were, however, many off-the-field issues he had to face, such as a point deduction for financial irregularities in 2022-23, the resignation of Andrea Agnelli and the entire board in the same season and a considerable change within the club that brought Cristiano Giuntoli, not Allegri’s biggest fan, to the Allianz Stadium.
As highlighted by Gazzetta, Allegri built a love-and-hate relationship with Juventus fans, bringing several trophies but also offering a playing style that many supporters of the Old Lady criticised over the years.

At the same time, Allegri also led the team through the most difficult moment of the post-Calciopoli era, with a point deduction in Serie A and a ban from European competitions in 2023-24.
While ordinary Juventus fans often split over Allegri’s tenure in Turin, ultras have always backed the Livorno-born coach, who is expected to receive a warm welcome when he returns to the Allianz Stadium this evening.
“It’s not a revenge. When I went to Juventus, I thanked Milan for the previous four years. Before coming back here, I thanked Juventus,” Allegri said at a pre-match press conference on Saturday.
“Is not a revenge game. It will be a good match. We’ll have to play a smart, tactical game. We defended well against Napoli, but we could have done better, especially on the penalty situation.”
