Bayern Munich may have received a significant boost in the race to sign FC Koln attacker Said El Mala during the summer transfer window.

The German giants could face strong competition from Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion, who currently appear to be leading the race.

Premier League champions Manchester City are also reportedly interested in the exciting left-footed winger, who could be on the move this summer.

Said El Mala current situation

The 19-year-old primarily operates on the right wing, although he has also been deployed as a striker on occasion.

El Mala has started 11 Bundesliga matches this season, while making a further 14 appearances from the bench, registering eight goals and three assists in the process.

Bayern and Brighton have been heavily linked with a move for the attacker in recent months, with Christian Falk previously reporting that he is regarded as one of the German champions’ main targets for the summer.

The Bild journalist has now exclusively told CFBayern that El Mala is moving away from his agents at Footfeel ISM.

At present, the player’s mother, Sabrina El Mala, is handling negotiations on his behalf.

Brighton are reportedly trying to strike a special deal with Koln, proposing to sign not only Said El Mala but also his older brother, Malek El Mala (20), which could prove to be an attractive proposition.

Furthermore, the Seagulls are prepared to offer a salary of €3.5 million. While Bayern remain interested, they would only make an offer for Said, not his brother.

Do Brighton have an advantage over Bayern in El Mala chase?

Falk previously told CFB that El Mala is attracted by the prospect of playing in the Premier League, with Brighton viewed as a strong potential destination.

The winger could also attract offers from other top clubs, particularly with Manchester City monitoring his situation closely.

However, Bayern do hold an agreement with FC Köln that grants them the right of first refusal should another club submit an offer for El Mala.
