Francesco Pio Esposito returned to the starting lineup in last night’s Champions League match between Inter Milan and Kairat Almaty.
According to Tuttosport via FCInterNews, the 20-year-old fared well despite wasting several scoring opportunities.
Cristian Chivu decided to bench Ange-Yoan Bonny after the Frenchman’s disjointed performance against Hellas Verona on Sunday.
Therefore, Pio Esposito partnered up with Lautaro Martinez, who scored his fourth Champions League goal of the season.
Meanwhile, the Italian youngster drew another blank, though he showed glimpses of his talent.

Despite squandering several chances, Pio Esposito proved he can be a valuable asset for the Nerazzurri in the Champions League.
Indeed, his link-up play and on-field understanding with Lautaro and others really stood out.
Furthermore, he demonstrated excellent movement and intelligent positioning, frequently creating spaces for his teammates.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t add to his two-goal tally this season.
On the other hand, Bonny flopped after taking Martinez’s place at the start of the second half, often looking ‘indolent’ and disconnected from the pack.
