The Corriere dello Sport has delivered a harsh assessment of Inter’s performance in Benghazi, particularly focusing on Luis Henrique and Andy Diouf, who both failed to seize the opportunity to impress Cristian Chivu in the defeat against Atletico Madrid.
The Italian newspaper, via FCInterNews, described the match as a “poor” friendly in terms of available players.
However, they report it was one that still offered a chance for fringe members of the squad to make their mark – a chance that went begging.
“They didn’t stand out last night either, wasting a good opportunity to send a message to Chivu,” the paper wrote.
Furthermore, they noted that both players remain “in the shadows.”
Luis Henrique, in particular, was criticised for his lack of conviction on the ball.
“He looked hesitant again. He was signed for his one-on-one ability, but hardly attempted any, as if afraid to make mistakes.
“If this continues, his usefulness will be very limited,” Corriere stated bluntly.

The judgement on Diouf was equally severe.
“He still looks lost, which is surprising given he joined nearly two months ago.
“He’s more comfortable carrying the ball than distributing it, but lacked initiative or drive.
“He didn’t go beyond the basics and made several errors.”
The paper added that Inter as a whole were far from their best, highlighting Palacios’ costly mistake that led to Carlos Martín’s opener for Atletico.
There were, however, a few positives: Josep Martínez, Bisseck, who equalised from a Mkhitaryan corner, Bonny, and the young Agbonifo, who came close to scoring late on.
“It wasn’t a brilliant Inter,” Corriere concluded, “but there were flashes of promise from the younger players.”
