Inter Milan defender Alessandro Bastoni says that he is “happy to score for Italy” in front of his family in the Azzurri’s win against Estonia.
The 26-year-old spoke to Vivoazzurri.it. He also hoped for a positive run under coach Gennaro Gattuso.
Italy beat Estonia this week in a World Cup qualifying win. They won by the emphatic scoreline of 5-0.
Gennaro Gattuso got his reign as Azzurri off to the best possible start with the victory.
Italy were not able to score in the first half, despite their complete dominance of possession.
However, in the second half the floodgates opened, with the Azzurri scoring five goals without reply.
The scorer of Italy’s fifth goal was Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni. He was one of three Nerazzurri players to start the match, along with Nicolo Barella and Federico Dimarco.

“I’m very happy,” said Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni after the match.
“My whole family was here,” he continued. “It was great.”
“We know how much that goal difference can end up mattering,” Bastoni noted. “So I’m happy with this evening.”
Meanwhile, Bastoni gave his thoughts on new Italy coach Gattuso. “We remember him from when he was a player,” he said.
“He worked hard for the morale that he has. He has incredible leadership.”
Bastoni commented that Gattuso “instills grit and desire in us.”
“When you’re tired, he gives you that extra something. We thank him, and we hope that we can go far with him.”
“It’s normal for them to boo us if we get our attitude wrong. It’s up to us to bring the fans back to loving the national team.”
