Inter reject €40m Brentford offer for Stankovic | OneFootball

Reports in Italy claim that Inter have turned down a €40m proposal from Premier League side Brentford for recently-returned midfielder Aleksandar Stankovic, who spent the 2025-26 season in Belgium with Club Brugge.

Gazzetta: Inter turn down Brentford offer for Stankovic

According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Brentford submitted a formal, written offer for Stankovic worth a total of €40m, but both the club and the player have ‘said no’.

Inter are still likely to listen to increased offers for Stankovic should they come in, but as things stand, the youngster is set to be part of the first-team set-up in San Siro heading into the 2026-27 campaign.

Cristian Chivu is reportedly banking on the 21-year-old being part of his central plans heading this coming season, likely as an option to rotate and compete with Hakan Calhanoglu at the base of the midfield three.

The Nerazzurri are not short on options in central midfield with Stankovic, Calhanoglu, Piotr Zielinski, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Nicolo Barella, Petar Sucic, Davide Frattesi and Andy Diouf. And still, the club are still keen on the idea of adding Liverpool’s Curtis Jones into the mix as well.

Stankovic is fresh off an impressive 2025-26 season in Belgium, during which time he won the 2025-26 Belgian Pro League title as well as the Belgian young footballer of the year award.

This was enough to convince Inter to exercise their €23m buy-back option for Stankovic, who had joined Club Brugge in a permanent transfer in the summer of 2025.
