With the league season officially over, the Nerazzurri are now on international duty. There are plenty of friendlies between the end of May and the start of June, both for teams gearing up for the 2026 World Cup and for those that did not qualify.
On Saturday, 31 May, Manuel Akanji represented Switzerland at the Kybunpark in St. Gallen, where the Swiss national team won 4-1 against Jordan in a friendly ahead of the World Cup. The Nerazzurri defender made the starting XI, selected by Murat Yakin, and played 62 minutes before being replaced by Comert. Switzerland were already 3-0 up by half time thanks to goals from Embolo, Ndoye, and Xhaka. Al Fakhouri pulled one back for Jordan, but Fassnacht sealed the result with a fourth for Switzerland to make it 4-1 at full time.
Akanji will travel with Switzerland to the United States in the next few days. The Swiss side are expected to play their final friendly against Australia in San Diego on Saturday, 6 June, before the start of the World Cup.

It was a disappointing evening for Poland and Piotr Zielinski, who were beaten 2-0 by Ukraine at the Tarczynski Arena in Wrocław. The visitors struck twice late in the first half through Yaremchuk and Yarmolenko to secure the win. Zielinski started the match and played the first 45 minutes before making way for Kapustka at the break.
Poland, who will not be involved in the World Cup in the United States, will be back in action on Wednesday 3 June when they take on Nigeria in another friendly in Warsaw.
