Italian newspapers suggest that Juventus’ 1-0 loss against Cagliari on Saturday highlighted the Bianconeri’s need for Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Juventus suffered their second defeat under Spalletti last night, seeing Cagliari secure a 1-0 win at the Unipol Domus.

Likewise, the Tuttosport headline was: “Juve, Mateta right away!”

Multiple sources, including Sky Sport Italia and Fabrizio Romano, claim that the Bianconeri have held positive talks with the striker’s entourage.

According to Sky, the Serie A giants will send an offer to sign the French forward on loan with an option to buy at the end of the season, which becomes mandatory if Juventus qualify for the Champions League or the Europa League.
