After some harsh reality or maybe just gloom and doom from Chris Sutton this morning, the negativity can be balanced out for the glass half full remnants in the Celtic support this morning by reporting on an upbeat title message delivered to Celtic’s title rivals by USA international defender Auston Trusty.

Trusty is nowhere near throwing the towel in and while accepting that there have been significant challenges this season at Celtic he still believes that the Hoops will be keeping their hands on the trophy come the end of the campaign.

“It’s really our trophy to take. Yes, we’ve had a lot of ups and downs this year, but I think if it was years before, the trophy would be ours and we’d be in really good standing,” the Celic central defender told USA outlet The Inquirer.

“But obviously, we’ve kind of made it difficult on ourselves this year — we gave other people a chance to make a run for themselves, so now we’re playing catch-up,” Trusty added.

The USA defender is currently away on international duty with the preparations well underway for the home World Cup this summer but the Celtic story is still high on the news agenda even across the pond as excitement mounts for the greatest show in football coming to North America – United States, Canada and Mexico – this summer. And don’t forget Scotland will be there too!

Trusty reckons that negativity sells and Celtic being down in third place there’s a story there with the underdogs Hearts likely to be everyone’s favourites outside of the Celtic and the Rangers fanbases.

“When someone new comes in, negativity sells. If Celtic or the big guys or aren’t doing so well, [a team]like Hearts could possibly win the league. People like that story a little better,”Auston Trusty pointed out.

American interest in how Celtic’s season pans out is obviously increased due to the disastrous 33 day stay at the club for former MLS coach Wilfried Nancy, who through away a dozen points in his dreadful stint in charge after being appointed on the recommendation of Paul Tisdale and being talked up as the top and outstanding candidate by Celtic CEO Michael Nicholson and his boss Dermot Desmond.

Just an Ordinary Bhoy’s excellent article yesterday evening on Dermot Desmond’s Celtic legacy is well worth a read.

Meanwhile it is certainly good to hear that Auston Trusty has got fire in his belly for the title run-in. Hopefully it is contagious because we are going to have to battle in every single remain match to deliver the Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup double. That would be the sweetest thing given all that has happened, most of it self-inflicted.
