After a 2-0 win over Brighton and success in the midweek EFL Cup match, Everton are high on confidence. The team have found great rhythm in their new stadium and will now look to continue that streak against Wolves in the Premier League. Everton have remained unbeaten against Wolves in the last five matches in the league, so the Merseyside club will be hopeful going into this game.
Wolves, on the other hand, have lost their first two league matches and have not scored a goal so far. However, the cup win have raised their morale a bit. In such a situation, Everton will have to play cautiously and put in a collective effort to break down the opposition’s defensive wall.
Everton are likely to adopt a 4-2-3-1 system for this match. Jordan Pickford is confirmed as the goalkeeper, and his experience will give balance to the team. In defence, Jake O’Brien will play on the right flank, while the return of Vitalii Mykolenko will be important on the left.
The pair of James Tarkowski and Michael Keane will provide strength in the middle, as the duo will have to stop the speedy attackers of Wolves. These four players not only play with height and strength but can also remain calm under pressure. In such a situation, Everton’s hopes will rest on this defensive quartet, as they would hope to control the opposition threats with co-ordination and patience throughout the match.
The midfield can prove to be decisive for Everton. Idrissa Gueye and James Garner will do the work of holding back as the defensive midfielders, and they will be tasked with stopping the attacking play of Wolves. Garner will get a chance to play in his favourite central position due to the return of Mykolenko, which will further increase the effect of his passing ability.

Ahead of them, the trio of Iliman Ndiaye, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Jack Grealish will play, whose coordination can give Everton an offensive edge. Dewsbury-Hall will be placed in the number 10 role, and his creative thinking is expected to provide opportunities in the penalty area. At the same time, Grealish’s technical ability and Ndiaye’s energy can constantly create problems for Wolves.
The attack will be led by Thierno Barry, who has made an impact in recent matches. Beto scored a goal in the cup match, but for now, the starting spot is likely to remain with Barry. Barry’s game is not limited to just scoring goals; he is adept at linking up with other attackers and midfielders.
Ndiaye, Dewsbury-Hall and Grealish playing behind him will constantly support him and try to create opportunities. Everton’s strategy will be to shake up Wolves’ defence by creating initial pressure and gaining control of the match by scoring a goal. If this combination works well, it won’t be difficult for Everton to take home the three points from Molineux.
