Jaka Bijol said Leeds United’s draw with Man United felt special as it pitted him against Slovenia team-mate Benjamin Sesko at Elland Road.
“It was really something special. For the first time in my career, I experienced fighting against a friend, a teammate. The feeling was special, and we practically played one-on-one the entire match.” Speaking to Arena Sport.
After a slow start following his summer arrival, the centre-back has grown into the Leeds back line and impressed again against Manchester United.
Sesko struggled to influence the game, registering just four touches in the Leeds box, three shots, and being dispossessed three times. He missed two big chances and failed to score despite an expected goals tally of 0.8.
“After all, in a match you are focused on your game, so you can show your best.”
“We always wanted to win this time, as evidenced by the coach’s substitutions at the end of the match.”
“Before the match, we had the feeling that we were in better shape than they were, but we didn’t succeed; we ran out of energy a little. Maybe also.”
