James Morrison has challenged Jayson Molumby to harness his passion with greater discipline as West Bromwich Albion resume their survival scrap.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, the Republic of Ireland midfielder links up with the squad today ahead of the Championship restart, with Wrexham visiting The Hawthorns.

The 26-year-old has been central to Albion’s recent upturn. His first half of the season was interrupted by injury and, like many team-mates, he has battled for form.

Morrison has asked Molumby to use his energy in the right areas, noting he can sometimes try to do everything and must remember his midfield brief. He praised the Bristol City display for its balance and discipline, and for choosing the right moments to break forward. The head coach also feels Molumby’s technical ability can be shown even more.

Molumby collected two more caps during the break, though Ireland’s bid for a World Cup ticket this summer ended on penalties against Czechia, with the Albion man striking a post late on. He then earned a 34th cap with an hour in a goalless friendly with North Macedonia, calling the experience really tough and a rollercoaster.

Morrison said he knows the midfielder well and values his passion, which he wants Molumby to continue. The Irishman’s combative edge has spilled over before, with three Albion red cards, involvement in a post-match incident that led to a Kyle Bartley dismissal last season, and a pre-season altercation against Mallorca.
