Jhon Lucumí exit ‘to be considered’ by Bologna after Sunderland move blocked last summer | OneFootball

Bologna told Jhon Lucumí they would weigh up a summer exit after stopping Sunderland from signing the defender late last summer.

Claudio Fenucci said: "A year ago, we couldn’t sell him at the end of the transfer window, but we promised him that this year, given a suitable offer, we’d make it happen." He was speaking to Pallone nel 7.

Sunderland were keen on the Colombia international during the previous window as Régis Le Bris sought to reinforce his squad, but Bologna refused a late sale due to a lack of time to source a replacement.

Any move in this window would still depend on an acceptable bid. Lucumí remains under contract, is valued by the Serie A club and they are not under pressure to sell cheaply.

Fenucci added: "The transfer window hasn’t really taken off yet, and if it didn’t for Lucumi either, we’d be happy to keep him."

Sunderland continue to assess defensive targets, particularly left-sided, left-footed options, with Premier League, domestic cup and European commitments increasing the need for depth.
