Pascal Struijk’s departure has left Leeds United’s vice-captaincy vacant, with Daniel Farke set to decide, and Joe Rodon among the contenders.
“The boss has his ideas, I have no idea how that's going to go. But of course, it'd be an honour and a pleasure for me, especially at this club,” he said, speaking to Leeds Live this week.
“I think everyone knows how I feel about this club and what it means to me. So yeah, whatever I'm asked to do… it'd be a complete honour for me.”
There are other options. Farke has called Jaka Bijol “captain pedigree”, while James Justin wore the armband in the FA Cup tie against Birmingham City in February when Rodon was not on the pitch.
In a poll of 1,788 voters, 79 percent reckon Rodon will be named vice-captain this summer. Dominic Calvert-Lewin received eight percent, while Bijol, Justin and Ilia Gruev each took six percent or less.
Rodon, 28, is a vocal organiser on the pitch and is 14 appearances short of 150 for Leeds. Only Daniel James and Wilfried Gnonto, who joined before his initial 2023 loan arrival, have made more.
