Newcastle United will lock horns with Burnley at Turf Moor on Tuesday night as they hope to earn a good result on the road in the Premier League. The Magpies suffered a 1-0 loss away at Manchester United recently, so they would be eager to bounce back by securing all three points against the Lancashire club this week.

Eddie Howe will stick with his favoured 4-3-3 formation and could opt to make a few changes to his starting XI for this clash. Both Joelinton and Harvey Barnes are expected to play from the start of this game.

Defence

Aaron Ramsdale will feature in goal for the Magpies after shipping in one goal in his last league appearance. Malick Thiaw will continue to play alongside Fabian Schar at the heart of the Newcastle backline as they look to keep a good shape when defending inside their half during the 90 minutes.

Lewis Miley will try to prove his worth as the right-back, while Lewis Hall hopes to catch the eye on the other side as the left-back. Both of them will get the freedom to go forward and express themselves inside the opponent’s half.

Alex Murphy will provide cover for the defensive positions on the bench.

Midfield

Joelinton, Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes will make up Newcastle’s midfield. Their main job would be to win the 50-50 battles at the centre of the park and engineer some clear-cut chances in the final third.

Jacob Ramsey will have to settle for a spot on the bench and might come on to influence the game in the second 45 minutes if needed.

Attack

Harvey Barnes will try to prove his worth on the left flank, while Anthony Gordon looks to give a good account of himself on the other side as the right-sided wide player.

Nick Woltemade will lead the line for the Tyneside club up top. He has to find a way to be a constant menace in front of the opponent’s goal.

Yoane Wissa will have to be content with a place on the bench as he waits for his chance to shine in the latter stages of the game if the Magpies are in need of a goal by then.
