John Arne Riise, formerly of Liverpool and Fulham, says a potential move to Benfica would be a great opportunity for Marco Silva and suggests Fulham may find it hard to keep him.

"He has done a good job. Fulham are trying to stay up. For Marco Silva, taking charge at Benfica is a great opportunity. It will be difficult for Fulham to keep him. He is a good coach, different to Mourinho," he told Lusa.

"Everyone is different to Mourinho, whom I like. I think he is an unbelievable coach, but Marco Silva and Benfica could fit well, if he makes that decision."

Benfica's hierarchy are increasingly optimistic about appointing Silva. Talks have progressed positively and groundwork has been laid for a possible agreement in the coming days.

Record writes that Silva could now earn close to €5 million per season. Although this remains below the more than €7 million on the table to stay at Fulham, the new proposal has significantly narrowed the gap and helped unlock a major obstacle in the negotiations.
