John Kennedy ends year-long drought for Flu, eyes run under Zubeldía

Author of one of Fluminense's goals in the draw against Sport in the Brazilian Championship last Wednesday (1st), forward John Kennedy found the net again wearing the Tricolor jersey after a year and five months. The athlete entered the field at the 30th minute of the second half, replacing Germán Cano, and converted the penalty awarded to the Warriors' Team in the final stage of the match.

The last time JK scored a goal for the club was in Flu's victory over Alianza, 3-2, in the Libertadores on May 29, 2024. In the meantime, the forward was loaned to Pachuca, Mexico, in January 2025, returning to the Tricolor in July of this year.

The player didn't get many opportunities with Renato, but the story might change with the arrival of Luis Zubeldía as the team's head coach. The coach spoke about the young player's readaptation after returning to Fluminense and intends to use him more frequently, assessing his daily commitment.

The athlete made his debut for the Warriors' Team in 2020. Since then, John Kennedy has scored 22 goals and provided five assists in 119 games wearing the Flu jersey. In addition to winning the Carioca Championship titles in 2022 and 2033, the Recopa in 2024, and scoring the winning goal in the 2023 Libertadores title.
