Real Madrid’s are on track to tie down Vinicius Jr. with a long-term contract, but that has not gone down well with everyone in Spain.
Prominent Spanish journalist Julio Pulido has publicly questioned the club’s judgement, sparking debate over whether the Brazilian should remain the focal point of Madrid’s future, especially with Kylian Mbappe’s on the roster.
Speaking on Cadena SER (h/t Mundo Deportivo), Pulido expressed his support for Vinicius’s personal decision to reject a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia.
“I think Vinicius is right,” he began, acknowledging that it would have been premature and unwise for the 24-year-old to leave Europe at this stage in his career.
“It would be a mistake to go to Saudi Arabia at his age and at the current moment.”
However, Pulido was far less forgiving when analysing Real Madrid’s motives.

“I think Real Madrid is wrong,” he declared. “They are wrong because the Real Madrid of the future doesn’t revolve around Vinicius.”
He argued that Vinicius is no longer the untouchable star he once was and pointed out a worrying trend in his recent behaviour and on-pitch performances.
“It’s not about this Vinicius who gets angry, who gets irritated, and who is increasingly less important on the pitch,” Pulido said, casting doubt over the Brazilian’s temperament and diminishing influence.
He then shifted focus to Real Madrid’s marquee signing: “This is where Mbappe’s figure emerges.”
For Pulido, the future of the club rests squarely on the shoulders of the French superstar.
With Jude Bellingham also flourishing and Mbappe the central figure in Madrid’s attack, questions naturally arise over where Vinicius fits into the evolving hierarchy at the Bernabeu.
With the team now evolving and new stars entering the fray, the debate continues—should Real Madrid build around Vinicius, or should they place the crown on Mbappe instead?
