Named Player of the Month for February by the Professional Football League, the Kabyle goalkeeper is reaping the rewards of a remarkable comeback after a long layoff caused by a serious knee injury that kept him sidelined for the entire previous season.

Gradually returning to his best form, the 31-year-old shot-stopper has shone in recent Ligue 1 Mobilis matchdays, notably during the Clasico against MC Alger, where his decisive saves allowed the Canaries to secure a hard-fought draw.

His performances have not gone unnoticed. Merbah is now reportedly included in the extended Algeria national team squad for the upcoming training camp, a clear sign that his return to the top is drawing attention once again.
