A crucial week lies ahead for Ferran Torres. Fresh from helping Spain win the World Cup and scoring the historic winning goal in the final, the Barcelona forward has become one of Paris Saint-Germain’s top priorities.

According to Matteo Moretto on MARCA, PSG are preparing to step up their pursuit, with direct negotiations between the French champions and Barcelona expected to begin next week to discuss a potential transfer fee.

The biggest obstacle does not appear to be Ferran himself.

The framework of a financial agreement between the player and PSG is already in place, meaning personal terms are unlikely to derail the move.

Barcelona’s contract situation changed the picture

Ferran has entered the final year of his contract, and Barcelona have yet to make meaningful progress on a renewal.

After months without significant movement from the club, the Spanish international no longer feels like a priority despite his outstanding performances over the past season and his impressive World Cup campaign.

Another factor complicating matters is a clause in Ferran’s original transfer from Manchester City. Extending his contract would require Barcelona to pay the Cityzens an additional €8 million, a financial commitment the club has yet to make.

PSG making a push

Only a few days ago, the most likely outcome appeared to be Ferran staying at Barcelona for one more season, potentially without signing a new contract.

However, PSG’s growing interest has significantly altered that outlook. The French club are actively looking to strengthen their attacking options and view Ferran as one of their primary targets.

With the player now open to a move and feeling undervalued at Barcelona, a deal could progress quickly if the clubs agree on a transfer fee.

Decision expected soon

As per the report, Ferran wants clarity on his future within the next week or so. At this stage, the strongest path appears to lead toward Paris, where PSG are ready to make a major investment.

Meanwhile, Barcelona continue their search for a new striker following Robert Lewandowski’s departure, while increasingly accepting the possibility that Ferran could also leave before the transfer window closes.
