Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka is becoming one of the most sought-after attacking midfielders this summer.
The midfielder is attracting attention from a number of European clubs, and Tuttosport reports that Juventus have now thrown their hat in the ring.
Chukwuemeka’s future at Stamford Bridge is effectively dead in the water, with Chelsea eager to cut him loose this summer.
The Blues want to capitalise on his loan spell at Borussia Dortmund to make a decent profit from his potential exit, and the youngster isn’t short of options.
At the moment, it appears his future lies in Germany, with Dortmund keen to bring him back to the Bundesliga, but they have to fend off competition from RB Leipzig.
With Chelsea interested in taking Xavi Simons from Leipzig, the Bundesliga side have used the opportunity to open talks to sign Chukwuemeka in a separate deal.
The 21-year-old’s stock has increased after his impressive loan at Dortmund. Der BVB wanted to re-sign him on another loan deal, but Chelsea are adamant they’d only sanction a permanent transfer.
Chelsea signed Chukwuemeka from Aston Villa in a £20 million deal three years ago.
Injuries scuppered his chances of working his way into the first team, and he has ultimately been phased out of the youthful project at Stamford Bridge.
But that takes nothing away from the midfielder’s immense talent and potential. Chelsea have set a €40m (£35m) asking price and will only entertain suitors chasing a permanent deal.
That asking price doesn’t seem to have deterred Juventus, although this isn’t the first time the Serie A giants have been linked with a move for Chkwuemeka.
They explored a move for him as early as January before Dortmund snapped him up. With the player now back on the market, Juventus are looking to see if they’re second-time lucky.
However, they’d need to make room in their squad before making a move for the midfielder.
Meanwhile, Chukwuemeka could be the key to unlocking Chelsea’s deal for Simons. If the German can beat Dortmund to the talented forward, it could expedite Chelsea’s move for Simons.
