Borussia Dortmund could be given a lifeline in their pursuit of Carney Chukwuemeka.

Bild report that Chelsea are ready to lower their asking price for the English midfielder to around €25m which, should this be true, could tempt Borussia Dortmund in making an immediate move for Chukwuemeka. The original plan was to sign the 21-year-old on loan for the season with an option to buy, to see if the Englishman could withstand the ‘Englische Woche’ without injury.

Chukwuemeka’s previous loan at Borussia Dortmund included a €35m purchase option, but the Bundesliga side decided against activating. That prompted RB Leipzig to join the race and with the Xavi Simons’ future likely away from the Saxon club, they will no doubt want to secure another attacking-midfielder.

There’s no doubt that even after signing Jobe Bellingham, Borussia Dortmund want to find an agreement to bring Chukwuemeka back to the Signal Iduna Park. The Chelsea midfielder scored one goal in 17 appearances for BVB during his six-month loan spell and if the price is around €25m, then Dortmund could be willing to sign the England youth international on a permanent basis.
