Juventus have rekindled their interest in signing midfielder Franck Kessie ahead of the January transfer window, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Kessie has a strong background in Italian football. His physical style is well-suited to the demands of the league.

The Al-Ahli midfielder is reportedly eager to return to Serie A, where he previously enjoyed considerable success with AC Milan.

The Ivorian’s contract with Al-Ahli runs until 2026, but they are willing to negotiate a January exit to avoid losing him for free next summer.

However, his current wages are around €10 million per year, a figure considered unaffordable for Juventus due to their wage structure.

This creates a notable challenge in negotiations, as Kessie would need to accept a substantial salary cut to facilitate the transfer.

Juventus remain hopeful that Kessie’s desire to return to European football and compete at a high level will encourage him to reduce his demands.

If Kessie agrees to a pay cut, Juventus will be signing a reliable midfielder without overshooting their financial capabilities.

Unbeaten in six league matches this term, Igor Tudor’s side have made a decent start to the season and sit just three points shy of leaders Napoli.

However, Juventus have drawn in each of their last five matches across all competitions ahead of their return to action against Como at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia on Saturday.
