Former Sunderland target Jhon Lucumí is drawing fresh interest from Juventus, Roma and Bournemouth as his Bologna future comes back under scrutiny.

Tutto Juve reports that no club is currently ready to trigger the centre-back’s €28 million release clause, which runs until mid-July, and that Bologna could later entertain bids in the €20-22 million range, roughly £17.5 million to £19.3 million.

Sunderland had made a concerted move for the Colombia international after promotion, submitting bids and wage offers, but Bologna were unwilling to sell after losing other defenders and the move fell through. The Black Cats did not revisit the deal in January.

Lucumí, 27, has one year left on his Bologna contract. He arrived from Genk in 2022 and has become a key figure, helping the Rossoblù win the Coppa Italia in 2024-25 and clinch Champions League qualification.

Barcelona have previously been linked and his representative has suggested he is settled in Italy and focused on Bologna. A strong World Cup with Colombia could increase interest, although the contract timeline leaves Bologna with a decision to make this summer.
