Kehl confirms disciplinary action after Adeyemi outburst | OneFootball

Karim Adeyemi was withdrawn in the 60th minute of Borussia Dortmund's win against Borussia Mönchengladbach, and reacted furiously, attempting to head straight down the tunnel before being stopped by Sebastian Kehl on the touchline. 

Speaking to Sky Germany after the match, Kehl made it clear the club would not tolerate such behaviour.

“We will have to talk about the incident,” Kehl said. “He will receive a fine because this is something we have discussed very intensively with the team over the past few weeks.”

Kehl also defended the decision to substitute the forward, insisting it was justified based on his performance. “The substitution was completely warranted,” he explained. “Karim didn’t play well today. This kind of reaction is not something the coach wants to see; it’s not something anyone wants to see. It’s not acceptable, and Karim knows that.”

As a result, Dortmund will issue Adeyemi a financial penalty.

The incident follows a series of similar displays from the Germany international in recent weeks. Head coach Niko Kovac also criticised Adeyemi after the match, echoing Kehl’s assessment.

“He wasn’t good today, which is why the substitution was justified,” Kovac said. The Dortmund coach also backed the club’s decision to discipline the player, adding: “You have to show understanding in situations like this.”

Dortmund’s win over neighbours Gladbach keeps them building momentum in the Bundesliga heading into the winter break, but the incident puts a negative spin on what was an overall positive evening for BVB.
