Kelechi Iheanacho signs for Celtic | OneFootball

Celtic have announced the signing of former Manchester City and Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho.

The Bhoys had been looking to reinforce up front, particularly given two recent poor results – first being eliminated from the Champions League by Kairat and then a draw goalless Old Firm derby.

The Scottish Premiership side will be hoping that Iheanacho can solve their deficiencies up front after the Nigeria international signed a one-year deal with the club with the option for a further season.

"I know Kelechi so well and what he can bring to the team," said Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers.

"He is such a talented player, with great ability, athleticism and work-rate.

"I am sure he will love being at Celtic and I believe our fans will love what he brings. He has great experience and he is right in his peak years so he can be a great signing for us. I am sure he will make a big contribution to the team."

After leaving Leicester in the summer of 2024, Iheanacho spent the first half of the 2024/25 season at Sevilla, where he netted three times, and then on loan at Middlesbrough where he scored just once.
