Valencia CF announced yesterday the signing of Guido Rodríguez in a move that has drawn consensus among supporters. Kily González has endorsed the arrival in midfield.

González attended the Espanyol match at Mestalla and, as the deal neared completion, was asked about it. The former Argentina international, a club legend from 1999 to 2003, was warmly greeted by fans and directors.

He said Rodríguez could add experience and personality to Valencia. He added that returning home is always a pleasure, reflecting his bond with the club.

Valencia’s Argentine lineage runs deep, from Mario Alberto Kempes in the late 70s to Roberto Fabián Ayala and Pablo Aimar. That thread has long been linked with success and belonging.

Rodríguez also meets a sporting need. The midfielder arrives as a 2022 world champion and a two-time Copa América winner, with more than 400 appearances for leading clubs.

In his firstremarks as a Valencia player, he said he knows the club is demanding and steeped in history, and that he comes to contribute. He also highlighted Aimar and Ayala, noting he shared a dressing room with Aimar at River and later worked under both with the national team.
