Peer Koopmeiners struck in the fifth minute of second half stoppage time to earn AZ a 2-2 draw with FC Twente.

Introduced just after the hour, Koopmeiners settled AZ's midfield, winning four possessions and knitting play with 22 accurate passes from 24 to keep the hosts on the front foot.

He backed that up with defensive bite, making two clearances and an interception, and added one key pass as AZ forced FC Twente deeper.

Deep into second half stoppage time, Koopmeiners took Rome Owusu-Oduro's pass, set himself on the edge and drove a low finish into the bottom left to level it. The substitute's single attempt was the game's final decisive act.

Because AZ's structure gave him space at the top of the box and targets wide, his tidy distribution and timing kept FC Twente off balance and ensured control of the key late phases.
