Lazio will miss the services of Manuel Lazzari for several weeks after sustaining a muscle injury in training.
Earlier reports had raised concerns over the conditions of the Italian right-back and his teammate Boulaye Dia, after missing training on Wednesday. In the latter’s case, it proved to be a false alarm, as the Senegalese striker was absent due to his son’s birth, and has since resumed training alongside his teammates. On the contrary, Lazzari’s physical issue has been confirmed.
According to Il Corriere dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), the 32-year-old has suffered the same muscle injury he had sustained in mid-September. Therefore, the Roman newspaper expects him to remain on the sidelines for at least three weeks.
In addition to this Sunday’s clash against Juventus at the Allianz Stadium, Lazzari will also skip Lazio’s two following Serie A contests: The home fixture against Atalanta on February 14, and the away contest against Cagliari on February 21. Moreover, he won’t be available for next Wednesday’s Coppa Italia quarter-final tie in Bologna.

The former SPAL player hasn’t been a regular starter this season, as Maurizio Sarri prefers Adam Marusic in the right-back role. Nevertheless, Lazzari’s absence will leave the manager with limited full-back options this weekend, especially with Luca Pellegrini serving a one-match ban. Nuno Tavares should fill in on the left, with Elseid Hysaj the only alternative on the bench.
