Although he’s not their priority target, Lazio are keeping tabs on Fiorentina youngster Pietro Comuzzo, who has another two suitors in Serie A.
With Mario Gila and Alessio Romagnoli both gone, and Patric and Samuel Gigot still dealing with long-term physical problems, the Biancocelesti are in dire need of defensive reinforcement.
Oliver Provstgaard may have become their most reliable centre-back, but he’s been joined by Danilho Doekhi, who signed for the club on a free transfer earlier this week. Nevertheless, Lazio still need another new addition to their defensive ranks.
According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, the Aquile still consider Sergi Dominguez as their top target for the role. While Angelo Fabiani failed to strike a deal with Dinamo Zagreb during last week’s brief visit to Croatia, he still intends to launch a new onslaught for the 21-year-old Spaniard. But in the meantime, the club is keeping alternative tracks alive, including the one that leads to Comuzzo.
Pedulla also confirms that Lazio are still evaluating a move for the Fiorentina defender, but they’re facing stiff competition, with Torino and Sassuolo both interested.
The 21-year-old’s valuation had reached circa €35-40 million after making his big breakthrough in the 2024/25 campaign, but the Viola’s disappointing last season took its toll on his market price, despite earning his first two senior international caps under caretaker Italy head coach Silvio Baldini, who called up a plethora of youngsters for last month’s two international friendlies.
Moreover, Comuzzo has become surplus to requirements in Florence following the arrivals of Viery and Radu Dragusin, who joined Luca Ranieri and Marin Pongracic in Fabio Grosso’s squad.
