Lazio held a team meeting to discuss their recent defeat in the Derby della Capitale at the hands of Roma, and three players made a mea culpa.
The Biancocelesti were the better side for the majority of the contest, especially in the first half, but failed to capitalize on their host of chances. On the other hand, the Giallorossi made the most out of an individual mistake from Nuno Tavares to score the solitary goal of the contest through Lorenzo Pellegrini.

The Portuguese left-back then reacted angrily to the scolding he received from his teammates, and was nowhere to be seen after the interval, even though Lazio sporting director Angelo Fabiani insists that the player didn’t leave the stadium during the contest.
According to Il Messaggero (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Fabiani and Maurizio Sarri spoke with the team for around an hour and a half before resuming training on Wednesday. The meeting included an apology from Tavares, who acknowledged the mistakes he made on and off the pitch.
However, the former Arsenal man wasn’t the only one who sought a pardon from his teammates. As the newspaper reveals, Reda Belahyane and Matteo Guendouzi also apologized for receiving avoidable red cards.

The young Moroccan left Lazio with a numerical disadvantage following a rash challenge on Manu Koné in the middle of the park. For his part, Guendouzi spat some ill-advised words towards the match official at the final whistle, which earned him a two-match ban.
