Leeds United claimed a convincing 3-1 victory over relegated Burnley in the Premier League at Elland Road on Friday.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin almost opened the scoring 20 seconds into the game after he met Noah Okafor’s cross, but his effort nestled over the bar.

However, in the eighth minute, Anton Stach broke the deadlock after he was found by Bijol before drilling in a powerful strike from 25 yards out.

Moments later, the German dispossessed Bashir Humphreys and picked out Ethan Ampadu, whose effort was blocked before Ao Tanaka blazed over the rebound.

On the stroke of half-time, James Justin saw his long-range shot comfortably gathered by Martin Dubravka.

Two minutes after the restart, James Ward-Prowse almost restored parity for the Clarets, but his deflected effort was saved by Karl Darlow.

In the 52nd minute, Okafor doubled the host’s advantage after Calvert-Lewin and Jayden Bogle teed it up to find him, who finished past Dubravka.

Four minutes later, Calvert-Lewin added a third after Dubravka parried Tanaka’s effort to his path to score his 12th league goal of the season.

In the 68th minute, Lucas Pires thought he had pulled one back for the visitors, but after a VAR check, the goal was ruled out for offside.

Moments later, Tchaouna reduced the deficit with a fine finish as the Clarets sought a way back into the game.

At the other end, Calvert-Lewin came close to adding a fourth after he met Bogle’s delivery, but his effort was calmly collected by Dubravka before the Slovakian goalkeeper thwarted Rodon from a corner minutes later.

The win stretches Leeds’ unbeaten league run to six games and moves them six points clear of 18th-placed Tottenham Hotspur, whom they face next week.
