In a recent report, Africa Foot mentioned that Leeds United are facing tough competition for Utrecht full-back Souffian El Karouani. It has been claimed that the Whites would have to rival West Ham United, Fenerbahce, Besiktas, Wolfsburg and Porto in the race to sign the Moroccan talent next summer.
El Karouani has managed to shine with his performances on the left side of Utrecht’s defence in this campaign so far. The 25-year-old has scored three goals and picked up 16 assists in 38 matches for the Dutch club this season in all competitions.
The Moroccan talent is currently among the most productive full-backs in European football. Therefore, Leeds United would do well to bring him on board this summer.
His current contract at the Dutch club will expire at the end of this campaign, which could give the Whites a chance to sign him on a free transfer later this year.

El Karouani doesn’t mind putting in a shift for his team defensively. He is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and has got the vision to create some decent chances for his teammates from the left flank.
The Moroccan sensation can shoot the ball with venom from long range and can contribute by scoring and creating his fair share of goals for his side. El Karouani is primarily a left-back but can also operate as a left-sided wide player or as a box-to-box midfielder if told to do so. However, it remains to be seen whether he can make a smooth transition to life in the Premier League.
We can expect El Karouani to add more quality and depth to Leeds United boss Daniel Farke’s defence. He is good enough to compete for a regular first-team spot at Elland Road in the coming years.
At 25, El Karouani has got his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a worthy target for the Whites to consider later this year. He would be well worth the fight, so Leeds should focus on stepping up their efforts to land him on a free transfer at the end of this campaign.
