Two Leeds United fans, Michael and Beth Pyle, both 29, have penned an anthem, We’re on Our Way (to Wembley), to cheer the club into their first FA Cup semi-final in almost 40 years against Chelsea at Wembley on Sunday at 3pm.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the track borrows the tune of I’m on My Way by The Proclaimers and was sparked after the pair watched Leeds face Norwich City at Elland Road last month. A playful chant on the journey home became a first verse they sent to The Square Ball Members’ Show.

The podcast aired it and said it evoked classic club singles, which encouraged them to complete a full song.

They shot a video with friends last Saturday as Leeds beat Wolves 3-0 in the Premier League. The clip quickly topped 1,000 YouTube views within two days.

Michael, from Morley, is a lifelong Leeds supporter. Beth, from Southport, got hooked after they began dating in 2019, around Bielsa’s promotion season.

The couple say they are excited to travel to Wembley for the semi-final. Michael calls it the first in his lifetime and imagines a striking 50-50 blue and white split as fans relish every tackle. They stress the project is just for fun and hope people enjoy the song, and that Leeds can beat Chelsea.
