Leeds United face fresh injury worry as Gabriel Gudmundsson gives update before Forest opener | OneFootball

Leeds United are sweating on Gabriel Gudmundsson’s fitness before their Premier League opener at Nottingham Forest after the left-back suffered a suspected hamstring injury in pre-season.

Forest host Leeds at the City Ground on August 22. Gudmundsson was forced off after 36 minutes against Liverpool in Chicago, going down holding the back of his leg before walking off in discomfort.

He will undergo tests. “Yes, it felt like that,” he said, speaking to Sportbladet.

On the severity, he added: “It was a little feeling, so we'll see. I don't want to go into it, I don't have an answer for that now. We'll see. I don't know. We'll see what the result is.”

Manager Daniel Farke is also being careful with centre-back Jaka Bijol. He missed all three US friendlies with a knee knock and is expected to rejoin training soon.

Ilia Gruev continues his recovery from a meniscus knee injury sustained in April. Lucas Perri missed the last two friendlies in America with an unspecified issue, thought to be minor.
