Leeds United prospect Harry Gray was absent as Rotherham United were thrashed 5-0 at Peterborough United on Tuesday, a defeat that proved to be Matt Hamshaw’s final game in charge.

Rotherham confirmed on Wednesday morning that Hamshaw had been relieved of his duties, saying action was needed to aid their League One survival fight and that the process to appoint a new first-team manager is under way.

Gray, 17, joined the Millers on loan in January for the second half of the 2025/26 season and has been a regular, making 12 appearances and passing 1,000 senior minutes, with two goals.

He missed the Peterborough trip with a slight hamstring issue.

It has not been confirmed whether the striker will stay with Rotherham to complete his rehab or return to Thorp Arch.
