Leeds United are expected to focus on loans when the January window opens in three weeks.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, the club sought attacking reinforcements late in the summer but missed key targets.

A right winger who could play inside was the priority. Facundo Buonanotte chose Chelsea despite an almost agreed deal, then Fulham withdrew the option of Harry Wilson travelling to Elland Road.

Buonanotte has scarcely featured at Stamford Bridge, while Wilson remains integral for Fulham. Leeds have looked short on creativity at times, and Dan James’ injury has underlined the need for extra punch.

Daniel Farke’s recent switch to a three-five-two will shape January choices if he sticks with it. Any fresh injuries could also influence how much business is done, and a flurry is not anticipated.

It is rated highly unlikely that Leeds do nothing. Farke is deeply involved, and character fit and acceptance that minutes are not guaranteed remain central to recruitment.

Loan outcomes have been mixed, with Djed Spence returning early to Spurs and Connor Roberts proving valuable. Targets are listed by position, and decision makers, including Farke, must be aligned before any move.

With Profitability and Sustainability tight, significant spend would require sales in January or before the PSR deadline at the end of June, and there are currently understood to be no outgoing sales pending, though that could change.
