Dominic Calvert-Lewin has ended a five-year England absence with a call-up for March internationals against Uruguay and Japan at Wembley.
His inclusion was reported by The Athletic’s David Ornstein shortly before the official announcement.
The Leeds United striker hit hot form in November and December, scoring in six straight Premier League games. He has 10 goals in 27 top-flight outings this season, with his link play vital in their bid to stay above the drop zone.
After leaving Everton, he joined Leeds as a free agent last summer and has proved his fitness. The club set out to keep him on the pitch, as with Manor Solomon and Junior Firpo, and he has logged 2,031 Premier League minutes.
Thomas Tuchel has named a 35-man squad for the camp. He said the group is being split, with lesser-used players brought in to widen the picture and compete for places on the plane to the US, then a second wave of 10 or 11 arriving from Friday and Saturday before a mixed selection faces Japan.
Calvert-Lewin faces competition up front from England’s first-choice striker Harry Kane and Tottenham Hotspur’s Dominic Solanke.
