Leicester City have signed attacker Conor Chaplin on a free transfer, the club said in a statement, with the 29-year-old agreeing a three-year contract.

Chaplin was released by Premier League newcomers Ipswich Town last month after five years, having helped the Tractor Boys secure back-to-back promotions from League One to the top flight. After keeping Portsmouth in the Championship last season, he joins City ahead of their League One campaign, and they appear to have beaten Championship side Lincoln City to his signature.

He said he was very excited to join, describing Leicester as a massive club with a brilliant fanbase, and vowed to give everything every day. He feels there is more to achieve in his career, prefers an all-in, energetic approach to help the team, and is eager to show supporters what he can bring.

Chaplin scored 26 goals in his last campaign in the third tier while operating from the right side of attacking midfield. He added 13 more as Ipswich finished in the top promotion places alongside Leicester in 2024.

The forward is Russell Martin's first signing of the summer and is set for a first outing at Burton Albion on Saturday afternoon.

City continue pre-season in Spain next week with games against Cadiz and Malaga. They then host Genoa at the King Power Stadium before meeting Northampton Town in the Carabao Cup first round.
