Leicester City are set to sign striker Danny Ings on a one-year contract to kick off their summer business, The Telegraph reports.
The 33-year-old, a free agent after leaving Sheffield United, is close to becoming Russell Martin's first addition.
City have yet to make a signing since relegation from the Championship, and sales have also been slow despite the need for a major overhaul.
Ings is set for a medical in the coming days. He featured 23 times in the Championship last season, scoring two goals.
The former Liverpool, Southampton, Aston Villa and West Ham United forward has 240 Premier League appearances. His best return came at Southampton, where he struck 22 league goals in a single campaign.
He is expected to be the first of many arrivals before the League One season starts. Up to 11 signings are expected if departures from the current squad can be secured.
Leicester will listen to offers for almost every player to raise funds. Jeremy Monga is expected to finalise a £12.5m move to Manchester City this week, while Abdul Fatawu is attracting interest from Premier League clubs.
