Barcelona moved seven points clear at the top of Liga F with a commanding 6-0 victory over Atlético Madrid in the latest round of top flight action.

Meanwhile, Real Sociedad’s Edna Imade netted a brace in a dramatic 2-2 draw against her former club, Granada. Here’s how all the games played out over the weekend.

Barcelona sweep past Atleti

Barcelona demonstrated that they are a level or two above a potential top-three side in Atlético Madrid. Esmee Brugts and Patri Guijarro grabbed a goal apiece to establish a comfortable half-time lead. Ewa Pajor made it 3-0 within eight minutes of the restart, taking her tally to six goals in seven Liga F appearances.

Caroline Graham Hansen, Aitana Bonmatí and Alexia Putellas all combined for the latter to fire a low strike out of the goalkeeper’s reach. There was still plenty of time left for Vicky López to score her fifth goal of the season and for Laia Aleixandri to find the net against her former club.

The 6-0 win threatened to be overshadowed by a serious-looking knee injury to Pajor. Fortunately, medical tests have confirmed she has avoided an ACL injury, though she will be out for up to six weeks.

Real Madrid put four past Athletic Club

Real Madrid enjoyed a successful trip to San Mamés at the weekend. Caroline Weir showed great composure to open the scoring against Athletic Club. The Scotland international collected a low cross on the run before firing into the bottom corner with her right foot. An own goal made it 2-0 at the break, but Real Madrid saw their lead halved by Nerea Nevado’s stunning free-kick in the 72nd minute.

Late goals from Weir and Iris Ashley ended Athletic’s hopes of salvaging a point. As a result of the win, Real Madrid moved into second place in the Liga F standings.

Edna Imade scores brace on Granada return

Edna Imade netted 16 league goals for Granada last season, earning her a big move to Bayern Munich before being loaned to Real Sociedad for the 2025/26 season. The 25-year-old nearly got the better of her former employers at the weekend, only for a late equaliser to deny La Real maximum points.

Imade’s replacement at Granada, Sonya Keefe, opened the scoring from the penalty spot to continue her impressive start to the season. However, Keefe’s fifth Liga F goal of the season was cancelled out by Imade’s 42nd-minute leveller. The former Granada star won a penalty after the restart, but Nerea Eizagirre saw her tame spot-kick saved by Laura Sánchez.

Imade then put Real Sociedad ahead in the 87th minute with a powerful header. But just as La Real thought they had snatched the win, María Barquero bundled home a stoppage-time equalizer.

DUX Logroño stage dramatic fightback

There was also a 2-2 draw in Saturday’s meeting between Deportivo La Coruña and DUX Logroño. Deportivo made a storming start, establishing a two-goal lead inside the opening 25 minutes at Riazor. Ainhoa Marín netted her second goal of the season before Millene Cabral dispatched a penalty following a handball infringement. Bárbara Latorre then thought she had netted a third, only to see her superb solo effort chalked off for offside.

That proved to be a crucial moment, as DUX Logroño showed great fight to close the two-goal deficit. Isina produced a deft flick to pull a goal back in first-half stoppage time, before Logroño had a potential equaliser ruled out after the restart. However, the leveller ultimately arrived in the 70th minute, when Flavine Mawete headed in from Isini’s inswinging cross.

Tale of late winners

Eibar scored an 87th-minute winner to condemn Costa Adeje Tenerife to their first defeat of the season. Sara Díaz raced down the right flank before playing the ball across for Carmen Álvarez to guide home the winner. As a result of the narrow victory, Eibar have now won back-to-back away games and have recorded clean sheets in three of their last six outings.

Like Eibar, Sevilla also struck late to take maximum points from their away meeting with Levante. Inma Gabarro won the game in the 85th minute with her first goal since returning from an ACL injury. The Everton loanee tapped in from close range after Laura Coronado failed to hold onto Chantal Hagel’s driven shot. The win extends Sevilla’s unbeaten run to three games, while basement side Levante have now lost five consecutive matches.

Espanyol, Badalona seal home victories

Elsewhere, Espanyol claimed their first win of the season in their home meeting with Alhama. Ainoa Campo, Ona Baradad and Ángeles del Álamo all got on the scoresheet in a dominant 3-0 victory. The win moved Espanyol out of the drop zone and up to 12th position.

Meanwhile, Badalona ended their four-game winless run with a narrow victory against Madrid CFF. Elena Julve’s 18th-minute effort proved enough to seal Badalona’s first home win of the Liga F campaign. As for the visitors, the disappointing result ended their three-game undefeated streak.

Best Liga F goal of matchday seven

For us, Barcelona’s fourth goal was the standout effort of the weekend, largely due to the slick build-up play between Graham Hansen, Bonmatí and Putellas. The quick passing created the opening for Putellas to drive a precise strike from the edge of the box into the bottom corner.
