Linense have appointed former Palmeiras midfielder Marcinho as head coach on Tuesday 24, as they seek to avoid relegation from Série A2 of the Campeonato Paulista to Série A3.

Marcinho joined Palmeiras in 2005 after a standout spell at São Caetano, having previously played for Corinthians. Across two seasons he made 88 appearances and scored 30 goals in the Campeonato Brasileiro, the Paulistão and the Conmebol Libertadores.

As a coach, he faced Palmeiras in the 2024 Paulista while in charge of Ituano. During that campaign he reflected on his time at the club, saying, “I had a good spell at Palmeiras, I managed to be the Libertadores top scorer, one of the team’s top scorers in the 2005 Brasileirão. I had a very good time with Juninho, we were roommates. He was always very attentive and gave a lot of support.” He told Nosso Palestra.

“With that friendship, once we retired the opportunities came, we went to Ituano with the under-15s, left and now I am back as head coach.”

“We see football the same way, with a forward approach and a focus on developing young players, which makes many things in the day to day positive. I hope the partnership lasts a long time.”
