Deloitte’s latest Football Money League places Manchester United and Liverpool among the world’s wealthiest clubs. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, it ranks the 20 highest-grossing teams by last season’s revenue.

On average, this year’s Top 20 made 50% more revenue than in 2020, while matchday profits doubled. The gap between the elite and the rest is widening.

Newcastle’s revenue has more than doubled since the Saudi PIF takeover, having been under £150m in 2020/21. With PSR ending this summer, how they use that spending power will be closely watched.

Aston Villa showed the value of one Champions League season, with revenue up 45% after a 2023/24 top-four finish. Their income has more than doubled in five years, despite recent PSR brushes.

Chelsea’s income has stayed steady post-Abramovich despite mixed results, and could rise with a Champions League return. Tottenham’s revenue is well over 50% higher than five seasons ago and may climb further with Champions League football back. Their stadium generates over £130m a year in matchday revenue, besides events.

United’s revenue rose again, up 3% this season despite their drift from past heights under the Glazers and Ineos. Arsenal were at about £320m five years ago, and their turnover has since far more than doubled.

Manchester City’s revenue dipped slightly year on year and has been largely static for a few seasons, tallying with their second place last time. Liverpool remain among the elite.
