Liverpool keen on signing winger and defenders | OneFootball

Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola says the club “definitely need to sign a winger” this summer.

The Reds signed winger Victor Munoz earlier on in the transfer window from Osasuna, but Iraola says he is keen to add another player in that position.

“I think it is difficult to say a number when the market is open and you have to be always open to new options to improve the squad,” Iraola said.

“There are obvious situations that we know that we need to sign players. A winger – for example. We definitely need to sign a winger.

“But there are other situations that, we will have to analyse what the market gives you. What’s the cost? And how we also see the players we have. I said, the other day, you know, some tricky positions where you have like injured player that we trust that is still not the ideal situation. So it will depend a little bit on a lot of things.”

Iraola also says Liverpool are in the market for defensive reinforcements this summer.

“I think it depends on the Conor (Bradley) situation,” he explained. “At the end if you have a fully fit, healthy Conor Bradley, we are very happy, ready to go. And we would not be asking ourselves these questions.

“I think it’s a situation that is tricky. And because, we trust Conor in the long term we know we want him to be our right back. But right now, he is still, I would say, a little bit far from returning. So with the centre-back, with the right-back situation in terms of defensive depth, we are, I think, very thin right now. So I think it’s a solution that we are trying to find, yes.”
