Despite already having a deal in place for Jeremy Jacquet, Liverpool are still in the market for a central defender.

The Frenchman was one of the most sought-after defenders in Europe before he agreed to an Anfield switch, but the Reds will likely need another signing to bolster their backline.

Ibrahima Konate is into the final few months of his contract, and both Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez are into the last 18 months, raiding questions over the long-term futures of all three central defenders.

Arne Slot’s side are still exploring the market then, and they have just learned what it would take to sign a defender the Dutchman wanted when he first arrived at the club.

Liverpool receive update on potential Konate replacement

Gleison Bremer was heavily linked with a Merseyside move in the summer of 2024, when Slot first took over at Anfield.

The Brazilian had impressed at Juventus, but decided to extend his contract in Turin over moving to the Premier League.

Now, thanks to a report from Calcio Mercato in Italy, Liverpool have learned what it would take to get the 27-year-old's signature this summer.

According to the report Bremer, who is described as a ‘cornerstone’ of the current Juve team, does not have a release clause in his contract but a bid of around €70 million (~£61m) could be enough to secure his services.

The report names Liverpool, Chelsea and Bayern Munich as teams that could potentially bid, but also states that Juventus are reluctant to sell.

Bremer missed a significant period before December due to a meniscus injury, but has regained his place in Luciano Spalletti’s side since his return.
