Liverpool have been named in a report that drops a bombshell over one of Europe’s best strikers. There’s a release clause and the Reds could trigger it.
Liverpool invested heavily in the summer as they looked to improve on their title-winning squad. That included paying over £200m on a pair of new strikers.
Hugo Ekitike was the first to arrive, joining from Eintracht Frankfurt for around £80m. Alexander Isak followed in a British transfer record-breaking move from Newcastle United.
That was always a strange one. Neither striker would have joined Liverpool without some sort of confirmation that they'd be regular starters.
The Reds, however, play with just the one player up top. They can't both start there.

Or could they? Recent reports suggest Liverpool might be looking for a new striker and that would suggest that they want to play two up top.
It would be a historic change of formation and one that would necessitate a bit of extra depth there. So with that in mind, an incredible opportunity is there.
Liverpool have been linked with Serhou Guirassy over the last month or so. It's one that hasn't made a lot of sense, given the Reds just spent what they did on strikers.
A shift to a front two would explain it, though. As would the fact that Liverpool have an opportunity that few clubs can match.
Sky Germany reports that Guirassy, who soon turns 30, has a €50m release clause in his Borussia Dortmund contract. This release clause is only available to seven clubs, however, of which one of them is Liverpool.
