Liverpool's massive rebuild is continuing and the door has now opened for the Reds to pursue an incredibly talented left-back.

This is a position where you'd think the Reds wouldn't necessarily be looking at reinforcements. Milos Kerkez was signed for the long-term and he's very much expected to be the club's first-choice there for many years to come.

However, on the other hand Andy Robertson has a contract that is expiring at the end of the season. Kostas Tsimikas who is out on loan at AS Roma is also expected to depart.

If that happens and Robertson doesn't sign a new deal, Liverpool would be left with no senior back-options behind Kerkez and the club simply cannot afford to do that.

They need an alternative solution to the Hungarian, in case he is injured or when Slot needs to give him a rest. Having a rotation option who could also potentially compete with Kerkez for the position is probably the best case scenario.

And Liverpool are on step closer to getting the perfect option.

There aren't many as exciting left-backs in world football right now as Nathaniel Brown. The Eintracht Frankfurt defender has been a revelation over the course of this season and has even earned his debut for Germany's senior national team earlier in the campaign.

Only 22-years-old, Football Transfers values him at €35m, which is a bargain price for a player of his quality.

Brown is an excellent player going forward. He's a flying full-back who'd be a very similar profile to Kerkez. Like the Hungarian he's also a very good defender and is hard to beat in one vs one situations.

Frankfurt are a club who know full well know they operate on a sell to buy basis. They like to make a profit on their investments and won't stand in the way of players moving away.

Brown looks like the next big sale from the club, and this has been confirmed by Frankfurt's activity in the transfer market.

The German side has been very proactive and has secured Japanese teenage left-back Keita Kosugi ahead of the January window. The 19-year-old played for Djurgardens in Sweden and was very highly coveted.

Kosugi is regarded as one of the best left-back prospects playing in Europe right now.

His move definitely opens the door for Brown to leave Frankfurt and join a club like Liverpool. With Frankfurt having secured the potential replacement for him in Kosugi, it's a step closer for him being able to make the next move in his career.

Liverpool will undoubtedly be following his situation very closely.

Brown is going to be a hotly pursued player on the market. Whether that's in January or in the summer remains to be seen. But this is a move to keep an eye on.

Especially since the club's last signing from Frankfurt in Hugo Ekitike has been so impressive since arriving at Anfield.
