Liverpool star withdraws from national team squad | OneFootball

Liverpool forward Federico Chiesa has pulled out of the Italy squad for their upcoming internationals due to injury.

Chiesa had been called up by his country for the first time in two years, with Italy taking on Northern Ireland in a World Cup qualification play-off semi-final on March 31, followed by a final should they win.

But the 28-year-old will no longer feature, with Italy confirming he will now return to his club following fitness checks.

“Federico Chiesa, whose condition was assessed upon arrival at the Federal Technical Centre, was deemed unavailable for the next two matches and, in agreement with the club, left the national team’s training camp,” they said.
